PS5 Fan Connector Repair / Replacement Service
If the fan connector has been pulled off, torn away, broken, loose or damaged on your PlayStation 5 motherboard, this repair service is designed to restore the fan connection and allow the cooling system to work correctly again.
This is a very common PS5 repair, especially after attempted cleaning, fan replacement, liquid metal servicing or console disassembly. The PS5 fan connector is small and can easily lift from the motherboard if the fan cable is pulled too hard or removed at the wrong angle.
Symptoms This Repair May Fix
- PS5 fan connector pulled off the motherboard
- Fan socket missing, loose or broken
- Fan not spinning after cleaning or disassembly
- PS5 overheating after the console was opened
- Console shutting down because the fan is not working
- Damaged or lifted fan connector pads
- Broken fan connector anchor points
- Previous fan connector repair attempt has failed
What This Repair Includes
- Console strip-down to access the motherboard
- Inspection of the fan connector area under magnification
- Removal of damaged connector remains where required
- Replacement PS5 fan connector fitted to the motherboard
- Repair of missing or damaged pads where possible
- Rebuilding of anchor points where required
- Protective coating applied where suitable
- Fan function tested before return
Why the PS5 Fan Connector Fails
The PS5 fan connector can become damaged when the console is opened for cleaning, servicing or repair. If the fan cable is pulled upwards, forced out, or removed without supporting the connector, the socket can tear away from the motherboard.
In some cases, the connector comes away cleanly. In more serious cases, the solder pads, anchor points or traces can also be damaged. This means the repair may involve more than simply fitting a new connector.
Important: Fan Connector Damage Can Cause Overheating
If the PS5 fan is not connected correctly, the fan may not spin or may not be detected properly. Without working cooling, the console can overheat, run too hot, show heat warnings or shut down during use.
Do not continue using the console if the fan is not spinning correctly, as this may cause further overheating or damage.
What This Repair Does Not Automatically Include
- Replacement PS5 fan
- Liquid metal service
- Power supply replacement
- Motherboard repair unrelated to the fan connector
- Liquid damage repair
- HDMI port repair
- Other unrelated console faults
When It May Need Additional Repair
If the connector pads have been badly ripped, traces are missing, components near the fan connector are damaged, or a previous repair attempt has caused extra damage, additional board-level repair may be required.
If extra repair work is needed, we will contact you before carrying out additional work.
Optional Add-On: PS5 Liquid Metal Service
If your PS5 was opened because it was overheating, we can also carry out a PS5 Liquid Metal Service while the console is already stripped down. This is recommended if the console has been shutting down during games, running loudly, getting very hot or has never had the liquid metal checked.
Many PS5 overheating issues are caused by dry, oxidised or displaced liquid metal rather than dust alone.
Mail-In PS5 Fan Connector Repairs
This repair is available locally and by mail-in repair across the UK. If sending your PS5 by post, please package the console securely with plenty of padding and include your order details inside the parcel.
Most PS5 fan connector repairs are completed the same day the console arrives where possible, then returned using the delivery option selected at checkout. More complex faults, missing pads, previous repair damage or additional board-level issues may take longer.
Repair Warranty
Most repairs include a 3-month warranty covering the repair carried out. This does not cover new physical damage, liquid damage, previous repair damage, unrelated faults or damage caused after the device has been returned.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you repair a PS5 fan connector that has been ripped off?
Yes. In many cases, a ripped or missing PS5 fan connector can be repaired. If the pads or anchor points are damaged, they may need to be rebuilt as part of the repair.
What happens if the PS5 fan connector is broken?
If the fan connector is broken, the fan may not spin or may not connect correctly. This can cause overheating, heat warnings or shutdowns because the console cannot cool itself properly.
Can you repair missing fan connector pads?
In many cases, missing or damaged pads can be repaired using board-level micro-soldering. The success of the repair depends on the condition of the motherboard and how much damage has been caused.
Do I need a new fan as well?
Not always. If the fan itself is working and only the motherboard connector is damaged, the repair may only require fan connector repair. If the fan is also damaged, we will advise before carrying out additional work.
Should I add a liquid metal service?
If the console was opened because of overheating, loud fan noise or shutdowns during games, a liquid metal service is recommended while the console is already stripped down.
Do you offer mail-in PS5 fan connector repairs?
Yes. You can send your PS5 to CNLS Repair from anywhere in the UK using our mail-in repair service.
Is this repair covered by warranty?
Most PS5 fan connector repairs include a 3-month warranty covering the repair carried out. Physical damage, liquid damage, previous repair damage or unrelated faults are not covered.
