Important: No Signal Is Not Always Caused by the HDMI Port

A damaged HDMI socket is a common cause of Xbox Series X display faults,
especially when the port is loose, visibly damaged or the picture changes
as the cable moves.

However, the same no-signal symptom can also be caused by the HDMI retimer,
filters, damaged motherboard traces, liquid damage or unsuccessful previous
repair work.

If inspection shows that your console requires additional board-level work,
we will explain the findings and contact you before completing any separately
chargeable repair.

Signs of HDMI Port Damage

  • Contacts inside the socket are bent or missing
  • The central section is cracked or displaced
  • The HDMI cable feels loose
  • Picture changes when the cable is moved
  • The fault began after an impact or cable damage

Signs It May Be Another Fault

  • The HDMI socket looks undamaged
  • A replacement port has already been attempted
  • Low-resolution mode also produces no picture
  • There is previous repair or liquid damage
  • The console has other power or stability symptoms

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Xbox Series X no signal always caused by the HDMI port?
No. A damaged HDMI port is common, particularly if the socket is loose
or visibly damaged, but the retimer, filters, traces and other board-level
faults can cause similar symptoms.
Can you replace an HDMI port with broken or bent pins?
Yes. If the contacts are bent, broken, missing or pushed out of position,
the complete HDMI socket can normally be removed and replaced.
What if the HDMI port looks normal?
Damage beneath the socket is not always externally visible. The fault
may also involve the HDMI retimer, filters, motherboard traces or another
part of the display circuit.
Can you inspect an HDMI repair attempted elsewhere?
Yes. We can inspect previous repair work for incomplete connections,
lifted pads, broken traces, missing components or other damage.
Additional work is not automatically included in the standard
port-replacement price.
Do I need to send the controller or cables?
Normally, no. Send the Xbox Series X console only unless CNLS Electronics
has specifically asked you to include a cable or another accessory.
Can I send my Xbox from anywhere in the UK?
Yes. You can book the service online and send your securely packaged
console to CNLS Electronics from anywhere in the UK.
Is the HDMI repair covered by warranty?
Most Xbox Series X HDMI port replacements include a three-month warranty
covering the repair carried out. New damage, liquid damage and unrelated
faults are not covered.
