Xbox Series X Nexus Connector Replacement / Repair Service
If your Xbox Series X does not respond when the power or eject button is pressed, or the internal Nexus connector has been damaged during a previous repair or console disassembly, this service is for replacement of the Xbox Series X Nexus connector on the motherboard.
The Nexus connector is a small socket that connects the front power and eject button board to the Xbox Series X motherboard. It can be damaged if the ribbon cable is pulled, inserted incorrectly or removed without releasing the connector properly.
Symptoms This Repair May Fix
- Xbox Series X does not respond when the power button is pressed
- Power button does not work
- Eject button does not work
- Console can be powered on using another method but not from the front button
- Nexus ribbon cable will not remain securely connected
- Broken or missing Nexus connector locking clip
- Bent, broken or damaged pins inside the Nexus socket
- Nexus connector lifted or detached from the motherboard
- Visible Nexus connector damage following a previous repair or disassembly
What This Repair Includes
- Console strip-down to access the motherboard
- Removal of the damaged Nexus connector
- Replacement Nexus socket fitted to the motherboard
- Connector pads and surrounding area inspected under magnification
- Nexus ribbon cable and front button connection checked
- Power and eject button functions tested before return
- Console reassembled and tested
Important: No Power Is Not Always Caused by the Nexus Connector
A damaged Nexus connector can prevent the front power button from working, making the Xbox Series X appear completely dead. However, a console that does not power on can also have a faulty power supply, damaged power circuitry, motherboard faults, liquid damage or other internal problems.
This service is intended for consoles with a damaged or faulty Nexus connector. If the connector appears undamaged or replacing it does not resolve the fault, further diagnosis or board-level repair may be required.
If additional repair work is needed, we will contact you before carrying it out.
What This Repair Does Not Automatically Include
- Repair of lifted connector pads or damaged motherboard traces
- Replacement of the Nexus ribbon cable or front button board unless agreed
- Power supply replacement
- Repair of unrelated no-power motherboard faults
- Liquid damage repair
- Correction of extensive previous repair damage
- HDMI, storage, software or display-related faults
- Replacement of additional board components unless agreed
When It May Be a Different Fault
If the front power and eject buttons operate normally but the Xbox Series X still does not start, shuts down shortly after powering on, has no display, crashes during games or behaves intermittently, the fault may not be caused by the Nexus connector.
The console may instead require power supply repair, motherboard diagnosis or another separate repair service.
Previous Repair or Disassembly Damage
The Xbox Series X Nexus connector is small and can easily be damaged while the console is being dismantled. Common damage includes a broken locking clip, bent internal pins, lifted solder pads or the complete connector being pulled away from the motherboard.
We can inspect damage caused during a previous repair attempt. If the motherboard pads or traces have also been damaged, additional work may be required and we will contact you before proceeding.
Mail-In Xbox Series X Nexus Connector Repairs
This repair is available locally and through our UK-wide mail-in repair service. If sending your Xbox Series X by post, please package the console securely with plenty of padding and include your order details inside the parcel.
Most Xbox Series X Nexus connector replacements are completed the same day the console arrives where possible, then returned using the delivery option selected at checkout. Repairs involving lifted pads, damaged traces or previous repair attempts may take longer.
Repair Warranty
Most repairs include a 3-month warranty covering the repair carried out. This does not cover new physical damage, liquid damage, further damage caused during later disassembly, unrelated faults or damage caused after the console has been returned.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Xbox Series X Nexus connector?
The Nexus connector is a small motherboard socket used to connect the console’s front power and eject button board. If it becomes damaged, the front buttons may stop working and the console can appear to have a no-power fault.
Can a damaged Nexus connector make an Xbox Series X appear completely dead?
Yes. If the front power button cannot communicate with the motherboard, pressing it may produce no response. However, complete no-power faults can have several other causes, so replacing the Nexus connector will only resolve the problem if the connector is responsible.
Can you replace a Nexus connector with a broken locking clip?
Yes. If the locking mechanism or socket has been damaged, the complete Nexus connector can usually be removed and replaced.
Can you repair lifted pads beneath the connector?
Lifted pads or damaged motherboard traces may sometimes be repairable, but this requires additional board-level work and is not automatically included in a standard connector replacement. We will inspect the damage and contact you if additional work is needed.
What if the ribbon cable is also damaged?
If the Nexus ribbon cable or front button board is damaged, it may also need to be replaced. We will contact you before fitting any additional parts or carrying out work beyond the selected repair.
Do you offer mail-in Xbox Series X Nexus connector repairs?
Yes. You can send your Xbox Series X to CNLS Electronics from anywhere in the UK using our mail-in repair service.
Is this repair covered by warranty?
Most Xbox Series X Nexus connector repairs include a 3-month warranty covering the work carried out. New physical damage, liquid damage, later disassembly damage, previous repair damage and unrelated faults are not covered.
